  14. DESCRIPTION
  15.  
  16. Netoscope is a simple and effective tool to monitor Internet 
  17. services such as web, ftp, or mail servers.  When a monitored 
  18. service fails, Netoscope can notify you about it or even correct 
  19. the problem if possible.  This makes it a useful tool for both 
  20. client and server machines.

  23. IMPORTANT NOTE (for first time users)
  24.  
  25. This application anchors its icon near the clock in the system tray 
  26. which, by default, is located at the bottom right of your desktop.  
  27. You may invoke the application menu by right-clicking on the icon.

  32. - v1.5  on 1999-02-10: Added e-mail notification and support for 
  33.   placeholders in sound file names.
  34. - v1.11 on 1998-10-16: Displayed the application system tray icon 
  35.   after logging on when the program is used as an NT service, and 
  36.   fixed a batch processing bug that was introduced in v1.1.
  37. - v1.1a on 1998-10-05: Saved user settings more frequently to avoid 
  38.   possible loss during an abnormal termination of Windows.

  43. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  56. INSTALLATION

  58. Close the application if it is currently running, then run the 
  59. SetupNetoscope.exe file and follow the instructions.

  62. UPGRADES

  64. Close the application if it is currently running, then install 
  65. the new version on top of the old one, unless otherwise specified 
  66. in this file.

  69. UNINSTALLATION
  70.  
  71. Close the application if it is currently running.  Click the Windows 
  72. "Start" button, and select "Settings", then "Control Panel".  
  73. Double-click the "Add/Remove Programs item".  Proceed by 
  74. double-clicking the line corresponding to this product and follow 
  75. the instructions.

  77. Note that configuration files, generally with a ".dat" extension, 
  78. and registration files, namely "Registration Form.txt", may be 
  79. created by the application and will not be deleted for your 
  80. convenience in case you wish to refer to them at a later date.  
  81. Delete these files manually if you do not want them.

  84. REGISTRATION / HOW TO BUY
  85.  
  86. This product is being provided to you for evaluation purposes.  
  87. You may use it free for 30 days, after which time you are obligated 
  88. to purchase a license or you must discontinue using it.  You will be 
  89. prompted to register daily during the evaluation period, and each 
  90. time you run the software thereafter.  Answer "Yes" to the 
  91. registration prompt in order to review registration information.

  93. button from the About window.
